Another Prominent Homophobe Outed
"The leader of the influential National Association of Evangelicals, a vocal opponent of the drive for same-sex marriage, resigned Thursday after being accused of paying for sex with a man..."
I admit I get a real buzz of amusement every single time one of these cases come up. Yep, another veteran homophobe caught out, this time sneaking off every month for three years to visit a male escort.

This case is particularly chuckle-worthy, at least to me, because I remember Ted Haggard from Richard Dawkin's Channel 4 series, 'The Root of All Evil'. After a briefing slanging match, during which Haggard grinned in a very creepy way throughout, he expelled Dawkins from his casino-esque megachurch for "calling his congregation moneys" - or in laymen's terms, mentioning evolution in his presence.

Priceless.

Now that is really funny. Great picture to use, too. Creepy isn't the half of it - he's one of those people for whom the word 'oleaginous' might have been specially-minted, oozing false sincerity and fellowship from every pore, while cheerfully condemning almost all of humanity to eternal torture and clearly relishing the prospect.

Life's a bugger sometimes, isn't it?

I do actually have some sympathy for this wretched man.

But over and above this, I think it's dreadful that the US elections seem to be mainly about spending millions of dollars on airtime to throw venom at your opponents. Is this what democracy is about?

You know I hadn't thought of the secondary connotations of using that pic of Haggard and Dawkins together.... and argh!

Anyway, your description of him is spot on (and I've learned a new word). Life's definitely a bugger if you waste it being a lying little bs!

You must have the heart of a saint to have sympathy for him. But good somebody does.

I think we all know democracy in the US is akin to Monty Python's dead parrot. It's definitely pushing up the daisies but the US politicians still keep trying to convince us it's alive.
